DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Sioux Falls Canaries LHP Adam Champion (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.

A pair of fine starts earned Champion this week’s top pitching honors. The starter began the week by shutting out the Winnipeg Goldeyes over six innings. Sioux Falls came away with a 4-1 win, as Champion held the Goldeyes off the scoreboard on seven hits.

That was not, however, Champion’s best start of the week. On Sunday, the lefty pitched eight innings against Lincoln and only surrendered four hits. The Saltdogs managed two runs against Champion, but Sioux Falls won the game, 4-2. Champion’s eight innings in that game was a season high for the southpaw.
