CANARIES DEFEAT STOCKADE IN A WALK-OFF

Sioux Falls 8, Salina 7 (11 Innings) – Box

Left fielder Burt Reynolds doubled home DH Trey Vavra with the game winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning as Sioux Falls defeated Salina in a walk-off, 8-7. The Stockade had a 7-5 lead going into the bottom of the ninth only to see the Canaries plate two runs via a wild pitch and an error to tie the score and force extra innings. Reynolds went 3-for-7 with a home run and three RBI while 1B Chris Jacobs collected three hits of his own along with a pair of runs and a RBI. Sioux Falls pitcher Jose Ortega tossed a scoreless 11th inning to notch his fourth win of the season. Ortega gave up a hit with a strikeout in the four batters faced.

For Salina in the losing effort, DH Jesse Baker had a 4-for-6 game with two runs scored and a RBI.

St. Paul 8, Cleburne 5 – Box

St. Paul scored five runs in the sixth inning to open up an 8-1 lead and would cruise from there to an 8-5 win over the Cleburne Railroaders. Those five runs came off of two swings of the bat, a DH Brady Shoemaker three-run home run and a two-run blast by 3B Nate Hanson. Saints 1B Dan Johnson also added a solo shot in the third inning in a 1-for-2 night while leadoff hitter Kes Carter went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.

St. Paul starting pitcher Matt Schuld notched his first victory in his fourth start of the season. Schuld gave up an earned run on six hits with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched.

For Cleburne, 1B Geraldo Valentin had a 4-for-5 game with two doubles and a run scored.

Lincoln 13, Sioux City 7 – Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs won their fourth straight and completed the sweep of Sioux City as they beat the Explorers by the score of 13-7. Lincoln pounded out 15 hits in the contest with eight of the nine batters in the lineup collecting at least one. Saltdogs LF Brandon Jacobs led the way going 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI. Lincoln RF Randolph Oduber went 3-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI while 2B Cesar Valera added four hits in six at-bats and scored three times.

Lincoln starting pitcher Seth Webster picked up the victory and improved his record to 5-4 on the season. Webster allowed six earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

For Sioux City, 1B Tyler Ogle had a solid night going 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI.
