AMARILLO’S MARTIN EARNS AMERICAN ASSOCIATION PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Amarillo Sox OF Jason Martin (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending June 30.

Martin was 13-for-24 this week for the Sox, and drove in three runs. On Wednesday, he was 3-for-3 in a doubleheader game against the Kansas City T-Bones. In the 4-0 win, Martin had a double and two runs scored. In the second game of the twinbill, Martin was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI as the Sox won 9-2. In Thursday’s series finale, Martin was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Martin continued his hot week Saturday when he went 3-for-5 against the Sioux City Explorers.

Martin is now hitting .306 on the season. The second-year Sox player has nine doubles, a triple and a home run with 13 RBIs.

The Sox open a road series at the Wichita Wingnuts tonight at 7:05 p.m. Central time from Lawrence Dumont Stadium in Wichita.
