Cleburne Railroaders outfielder Hill Alexander and Sioux Falls Canaries starter Seth Miller won the American Association’s Pointstreak batter and pitcher of the week for the week ending 6/30, the league announced Monday.
Alexander led the league in total hits this week, going 13-for-26 at the plate (.500) with two doubles, two home runs, 8 RBI, four walks and eight runs scored.
He capped a great week off on Sunday with his second four-hit game of the week in game two of a doubleheader in Kansas City, including a two-run homer.
This is year three for Alexander down south in Cleburne after previously spending time in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Last season the all-star played all 100 games, hitting .287 with an OPS over .900.
On the pitching side, Miller had a pair of quality starts for the first-place Canaries. On Tuesday he got the Canaries home-stand started on the right foot with seven shutout innings against Lincoln, then finished on Sunday with six innings of one run ball against Kane County.
In total on the week he pitched 13 innings allowing one run, two walks and he struck out six, earning the victory in both outings.
This is year two for Miller in Sioux Falls, appearing in 14 games last year but just eight starts. This season he’s made eight starts and has a 3.09 ERA on the season in 46.2 innings pitched.
Pointstreak is the official statistician of the American Association.
