Texas 8, Gary SouthShore 5 (11 Innings) – Box Score
The Texas AirHogs outlasted the Gary SouthShore RailCats 8-5 in 11 innings on Wednesday evening at U.S. Steel Yard.
The AirHogs rallied late with three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a one-run lead but the RailCats responded in the bottom half of the frame to tie things back up at 5-5. Texas broke the stalemate in the top of the 11th when DH/LF Justin Byrd (3-for-6) doubled home SS Yang Jin. The AirHogs proceeded to add another pair of runs as C Al Reda scored when 2B Li Ning (2-for-5) reached on an error and Byrd scored on a wild pitch.
1B Chen Junpeng also added a 2-for-4 performance with a pair of RBIs for the AirHogs.
For the RailCats, RF Colin Willis went 4-for-5 with two home runs and a triple.
Kansas City 5, Cleburne 4 – Box Score
DH Christopher Colabello provided the walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to push the Kansas City T-Bones past the Cleburne Railroaders 5-4.
The Railroaders had just tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the eighth as C John Nester hit a two-run home run. In the bottom of the ninth, 2B Dylan Tice drew a lead-off walk and took second on a sacrifice from SS Shawn O’Malley (3-for-4, 4 RBIS). 1B Daniel Nava (2-for-5) singled to push Tice to third and Colabello (2-for-5) ended the game with a single to left field.
For the Railroaders, SS Daniel Robertson and 3B Chase Simpson each went 2-for-4 and Simpson added a pair of runs.
St. Paul 5, Winnipeg 4 – Box Score
The St. Paul Saints overcame a four-run sixth inning to slide past the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-4.
The Saints jumped out the gate in the bottom of the first inning when LF Jabari Henry (2-for-4) singled home CF Dan Motl and RF Michael Lang (2-for-4). Lang added a solo home run in the fifth to push the lead to 3-0. In the sixth, the Goldeyes surged in front as DH Reggie Abercrombie singled home 3B Wes Darville and then scored when OF Willy Garcia homered. 1B/C Kevin Garcia singled home OF Dominic Ficociello to take the lead.
In the bottom of the frame, the Saints took back control of the contest as C Jeremy Martinez hit a lead-off shot and SS Blake Schmit singled home 3B Chesny Young.
Chicago 8, Lincoln 1 – Box Score
The Chicago Dogs used a seven-run fourth inning to topple the Lincoln Saltdogs 8-1.
The fourth inning rally opened the scoring for the game and 3B Trey Vavra scored the opening run on a single from C Michael Kranson (3-for-5). Kranson scored on an error two batters later and then CF David Olmedo-Barrera (2-for-4) doubled home SS Gustavo Pierre (2-for-4). The rally was capped by a grand slam from 1B Keon Barnum.
The Saltdogs’ lone run came when Nick Shulz homered in the bottom of the fifth.
Starting pitcher D.J. Snelton earned the win as he went seven innings and allowed the one run on two hits while striking out 10.
Fargo-Moorhead 6, Milwaukee 1 – Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rode a stellar start from pitcher Michael Tamburino as they beat the Milwaukee Milkmen 6-1.
Tamburino earned the win after tossing seven scoreless innings and allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out 14 Milkmen. Milwaukee’s only run came when RF Adam Walker hit a lead-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Offensively for the RedHawks, SS Yhoxian Median went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, CF Devan Ahart went 2-for-5 with an RBI and LF Brennan Metzger went 3-for-5 with an RBI. DH Chris Jacobs added his 16th home run of the season.
