DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Sioux City Explorers RHP Ryan Zimmerman (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 21.

Zimmerman made two starts this week for the Explorers, and earned two victories. He began his week with a complete-game shutout on Tuesday against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Zimmerman allowed only four hits and no walks in his outing, striking out six Saltdogs as Sioux City rolled 5-0. He followed that performance with a Sunday win in which he logged seven innings against the Sioux Falls Canaries, allowing a single unearned run in an 8-3 Explorers win. The Fremont, Calif. resident allowed only two hits and four walks, striking out seven Canaries en route to the win.

On the season, Zimmerman is now 4-1 with a 2.30 ERA. In seven games (five starts), he has 33 strikeouts to 11 walks in 39 innings.

Zimmerman was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 30th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, but did not appear due to an injury. This is his first year with the Explorers after spending 2014 in the Frontier League.

Sioux City, now at 22-7 on the season, opens a big road series with the 24-5 St. Paul Saints at CHS Field in St. Paul tonight. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Central, and will be available live and for free at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
