Sioux Falls 7, St. Paul 0 – Box
Sioux Falls starting pitcher Grady Wood continued his terrific 2017 season as he tossed a complete game shutout in a 7-0 victory over St. Paul. Wood gave up only six hits and struck out six batters in the 116-pitch effort (78 for strikes). The 27-year-old righty won his second consecutive start and improved his record to 7-2 on the year. Offensively for the Canaries, RF Burt Reynolds led the way going 2-for-4 with a ninth inning grand slam and six RBI. Sioux Falls DH Jabari Henry also added a home run in a 2-for-5 night while leadoff hitter Dan Motl drew a pair of walks and scored twice.
Cleburne 6, Texas 3 – Box
With the score deadlocked at 2-2 through five innings of play, the Cleburne Railroaders would take over the game, scoring four runs over the next three frames and defeating Texas by the score of 6-3. Cleburne banged out 13 hits in the contest and was led by 1B Geraldo Valentin who went a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Railroaders SS Alex Polston had a 2-for-3 night with two doubles and a RBI while 2B Maikol Gonzalez and 3B Mitch Glasser each contributed a hit and a run scored. Cleburne starting pitcher Patrick Mincey tossed seven solid innings in earning his seventh win of the season. Mincey allowed two earned runs on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts. For the AirHogs in the losing effort, 3B Ryne Willard went 2-for-4 and plated a run.
