The Winnipeg Goldeyes are proud to announce that the American Association has selected Winnipeg and the Goldeyes organization to host the 2014 American Association Game at Shaw Park on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

The two-day event will begin Monday, July 28 with a fan fest event and skills competition in the evening at Shaw Park. The following day, Tuesday, July 29, the all-star luncheon and youth skills camp will take place in the afternoon, followed by the 2014 American Association All-Star Game at 7 p.m.

“We are thrilled to be able to host our fellow American Association teams for this great event,” Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier said. “Our staff is working hard to ensure it will be a marquee event in downtown Winnipeg this summer for our fans to enjoy.”

This is the third time the Goldeyes will host the mid-summer classic, having done so for the Northern League in 2001 and 2008. This is also the first time since 2010 that the American Association will hold an all-star game.

The managers of the two teams that played in the 2013 American Association Championship Series will each lead a side in the all-star game. Greg Tagert, manager of the 2013 American Association Champion Gary SouthShore RailCats, will manage one team, while Kevin Hooper, manager of the Central Division Champion Wichita Wingnuts, will manage the other team. The format of the game will be released at a future date.

Further information about this event will be made available in the coming weeks.
