MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Wichita Wingnuts’ OF Angel Reyes (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending August 12.
In six games last week, Reyes drove in ten runners while hitting three doubles, two home runs and posting a healthy .423 batting average. Since being traded from the Lincoln Saltdogs on July 31, the young right handed slugger has hit five home runs, driven in 16 runs, and batted .412 in 12 games.
Reyes began his professional career as a 17-year old in the Miami Marlins’ organization back in 2012. The native of Venezuela spent six seasons in the Marlins’ system, reaching high-A in 2017 before signing with the Saltdogs this past offseason.
Reyes and his teammate RHP Travis Banwart, the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 12. Are the first teammates in 2018 to sweep the weekly awards.
