Wichita 9, Winnipeg 2 – Game 2 (Series tied, 1-1) – Box
Wichita pounded out 16 hits and scored in six of their nine frames to defeat Winnipeg 9-2 and even the best-of-five championship series at a game apiece. The Wingnuts had four batters with multi-hit games including 1B Matt Chavez who went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Wichita RF Nick Van Stratten added four hits and three RBI while LF T.J. Mittelstaedt plated two runs in a 2-for-5 night. Wingnuts starting pitcher Alex Boshers tossed six solid innings to earn his second victory of the postseason. Boshers gave up two earned runs on eight hits and struck out a batter. Game three of the championship series will take place in Wichita on Saturday night beginning at 7:05 PM.
