Wichita 9, Sioux Falls 3 — Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts used a six-run fourth inning to take care of the Sioux Falls Canaries 9-3.

Both teams put up three runs in the opening frame. 3B Ozney Guillen doubled home two runs in the top of the inning and 1B Matt Chavez leveled the score with a three-run shot in the bottom of the frame. In the fourth, the Wingnuts took control as they scored six runs on six hits and sent 11 batters to the plate. RF Richard Prigatano led off the inning with a triple, scored when C Brent Dean homered, and then scored 3B Zack Cox with a sacrifice fly later in the inning to cap off the rally.

Cox, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and DH Brent Clevlen also had RBI singles in the inning. For the Canaries, Guillen had a team-high two hits.

 

Winnipeg 6, St. Paul 4 — Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes pulled ahead in the bottom of the fifth inning and never looked back as they held off the St. Paul Saints 6-4.

Winnipeg’s C Tanner Murphy opened the scoring with an RBI double in the third inning but the real fireworks came in the fourth. St. Paul’s LF Willie Argo blasted a three-run home run in the top of the inning and the Goldeye’s matched that in the bottom of the frame with a solo shot from CF Reggie Abercombie and a two-run blast from 2B Casio Grider.

CF Alonzo Harris singled home a run in the top of the fifth for the Saints but Abercrombie added another RBI with a double in the bottom of the inning an 3B Wes Darvill scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.
