Wichita 5, Lincoln 4 – Box
Designated hitter Brennen Salgado belted a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give Wichita the lead for good as they went on to a 5-4 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Salgado had three hits on the night along with two runs scored and three RBI. Wingnuts CF Harrison Kain chipped in with two hits and three runs while 3B Zack Cox had a 3-for-5 night with a RBI. Wichita starter Tim Brown improved to 6-2 on the season with the win. Brown allowed three earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout in six innings pitched.
Laredo 4, Joplin 3 – Box
Laredo C Zane Chavez broke a 3-3 tie with a RBI single in the sixth inning as the Lemurs went on to defeat the Joplin Blasters by a 4-3 final. Chavez had a pair of hits on the night along with a run scored while CF/RF Denis Phipps went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Lemurs DH Ty Morrison also chipped in with a hit and scored a run. Laredo pitcher Kamakani Usui tossed a scoreless inning of relief to collect his third win of the season. For Joplin in the losing effort, 3B Brandon Tierney went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Sioux City 11, Kansas City 4 – Box
The Sioux City Explorers rolled out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of play and would never look back as they beat the Kansas City T-Bones, 11-4. Sioux City banged out 12 hits in the contest with four batters collecting multi-hit games. Explorers CF Tim Colwell went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI while RF Michael Lang added three hits, scored two runs and drove in one. Sioux City starting pitcher Cody Forsythe threw seven strong innings in earning the win. Forsythe gave up an earned run on three hits and struck out five batters. With the victory, the southpaw is now 7-4 on the season.
St. Paul 7, Fargo-Moorhead 6 – Box
After falling behind 2-0 through one inning of play, St. Paul scored seven runs over the next four innings and would hold on to defeat Fargo-Moorhead, 7-6. Saints 3B Trever Adams led the offense going 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. St. Paul LF Willie Argo picked-up two hits, scored a run and drove in one with CF Alonzo Harris going 2-for-5 and plating a run. Saints reliever Benji Waite notched his second win as he threw two innings giving up two earned runs on a hit. Right fielder Keury De La Cruz went 2-for-5 and launched one of three home runs Fargo-Moorhead hit in the loss.
Sioux Falls 10, Texas 6 – Box
With the game scoreless after two innings, Sioux Falls took firm control of the contest scoring eight runs over the next three innings and cruising to a 10-6 win over Texas. Canaries leadoff hitter Ethan Chapman led the way offensively going 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and a RBI. Sioux Falls RF Rubi Silva had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI with DH J.C. Linares and 3B B.J. Guinn each blasting a home run. Canaries starter Dylan Thompson nabbed his second win as he allowed an earned run on three hits in five innings pitched. For Texas, LF Burt Reynolds hit his league leading 22nd and 23rd home run of the season.
Winnipeg 5, Gary SouthShore 3 – Box
The Winnipeg Goldeyes continue to play solid baseball as they win their fifth straight in a 5-3 decision over the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Winnipeg CF Reggie Abercrombie had a 3-for-4 night at the plate with a home run, his 15th, two runs scored and three RBI. Goldeyes leadoff hitter Maikol Gonzalez had two hits and two runs scored while DH Adam Heisler added a double and plated a run. Winnipeg starting pitcher Ethan Carnes scattered six hits over six shutout innings to earn his fourth win. Carnes is now 4-1 on the season.
