TAYLOR’S TRAVELS TAKE HIM TO THE BIG APPLE

Taylor
Durham, N.C. — The contract of Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks INF/OF Kevin Taylor has been purchased by the New York Mets organization, the American Association announced on Thursday. Taylor played the 2015 season with the league champion Laredo Lemurs, was traded to the Gary SouthShore RailCats in September, and was subsequently traded to Fargo-Moorhead in January.
Taylor was a potent weapon for the Lemurs in 2015, hitting .327 with 11 home runs and 54 RBI, as well as 24 doubles, tied for most on the team, and 69 runs scored, highest on the Lemurs. His 65 walks and .435 on-base percentage were third-highest in the league.
2015 marked the first season in the American Association for the Portland, Ore., native, after spending the 2014 campaign in the Frontier League and the 2011 through 2013 seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ organization. Originally a 36th-round selection of the Dodgers in the 2011 draft, Taylor played collegiately at Western Nevada College.
The 24-year-old is the third member of the 2015 championship Lemurs squad to have his contract purchased by a major-league organization this off-season, following RHP John Brebbia and RHP Luis De La Cruz, both of whom joined the Arizona Diamondbacks.
