THOMPSON HEADED TO RED SOX ORGANIZATION

MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Winnipeg Goldeyes have sold the contract of RHP Dylan Thompson to the Boston Red Sox organization, the American Association announced Saturday, May 11. Thompson is the 16th American Association player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization in 2019, and the 36th since the start of the 2018 season.

Thompson was acquired by the Goldeyes this winter in a trade with the Sioux Falls Canaries. The Righty spent all of 2018, his fifth season as a professional, with the Canaries, going 5-9 with a 5.13 ERA.

The former UNC Greensboro standout began his professional career in 2014 after being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 31st round of the MLB Draft. Thompson spent two seasons in the Rockies organization before signing with Sioux Falls in 2016. In three independent league seasons, Thompson is 13-6 with a 4.34 ERA.
