TENBRINK NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Kansas City T-Bones INF Nate Tenbrink (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending August 30.

Tenbrink helped the T-Bones to four wins this week, and logged five multi-hit games in the process. He went 14-for-25 (.560) at the plate, collecting six doubles, two triples and four RBI.

He began his week on Monday against the Amarillo Thunderheads, and was 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Kansas City’s 10-8 win. Tenbrink followed that up with a 3-for-4 game on Tuesday, with another line of two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. The T-Bones won 6-2. The Olathe, Kan. resident had his best game of the week on Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with a pair of triples and four RBI in a 7-4 win over Amarillo. The fourth multi-hit game of the week for Tenbrink came on Thursday as the T-Bones opened a series against the St. Paul Saints. He was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI in a 5-4 win over the North Division champion Saints. After 0-for-2 and 0-for-4 performances in losses on Friday and Saturday, Tenbrink closed out the week with a 2-for-4 game that included a double on Sunday, but Kansas City fell 10-3 to St. Paul.

Tenbrink is now hitting .320 on the season, logging 22 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 45 RBI. This is Tenbrink’s first season in the independent ranks after spending seven seasons with the Seattle Mariners’ system. He spent the 2014 season with the Class AAA Tacoma Rainiers, among other stops as he was limited to 29 games with injury. Tenbrink spent 124 games with Tacoma in 2013, batting .267 with 24 doubles, four triples, 15 home runs and 60 RBI.

Kansas City, now 47-45 on the year, is 4.5 games out of the wild card race in the American Association. A do-or-die series with the Laredo Lemurs begins tonight at 7:05 p.m. Central time at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City.
