Kansas City 5, Winnipeg 4 – Box
The Kansas City T-Bones scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a comeback and beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes in walk-off style, 5-4. Winnipeg jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of play only to see Kansas City score one run in the fourth, two more in the sixth and then the two in the ninth to finish off the stunning rally. T-Bones CF Tyler Massey was the star offensively going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Kansas City reliever Johnny Shuttlesworth tossed two scoreless innings to collect his third win of the year. Shuttlesworth gave up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.
Fargo-Moorhead 5, Sioux City 1 – Box
A terrific pitching performance by starter Brian Ernst leads the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to a 5-1 victory over the Sioux City Explorers. Ernst picked up his first win with Fargo-Moorhead as he went eight solid innings allowing only an earned run on six hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts. The offense for the RedHawks gave Ernst an early 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks in part to a RF Keury De La Cruz RBI double. Sioux City would plate a run in the third but Fargo-Moorhead came back with three in the fifth highlighted by a two-run blast by 3B Josh Mazzola. De La Cruz finished the contest at 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.
Joplin 10, Wichita 6 – Box
The Joplin Blasters scored four runs in the sixth inning to overcome an early deficit and beat the Wichita Wingnuts, 10-6. The Blasters banged out 19 hits in the contest with five players having multi-hit games. Joplin RF Mark Krueger led the way going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI. Blasters C Charlie Valerio and SS Greyson Bogden each collected three hits in the game while 1B Geraldo Valentin had a 2-for-5 game with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Joplin pitcher Raul Rivera threw a scoreless inning of relief to earn his first win with the Blasters. For Wichita in defeat, 2B Christian Stringer went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI.
St. Paul 9, Laredo 6 – Box
St. Paul scored eight runs over the first four innings to run out to an 8-1 lead and would hold off a late challenge by Laredo to win, 9-6. Saints leadoff hitter Alonzo Harris led the offense going 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBI. Saints C Tony Caldwell added three hits and scored two runs with 3B Nate Hanson plating two runs in a 1-for-3 game. St. Paul starting pitcher John Straka threw six innings en route to his eighth win of the season. Straka gave up three earned runs on 11 hits and fanned four batters. Left fielder Leandro Castro went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in the loss for Laredo.
Lincoln 7, Gary SouthShore 6 (11 Innings) – Box
First baseman Rene Leveret doubled home PR Freddy Flores with the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning as the Lincoln Saltdogs beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 7-6. Lincoln RF Austin Darby went 3-for-5 on the night with two runs scored and a RBI while 3B Connor Teykl drove in three runs in a 1-for-4 game. Saltdogs LF Brandon Jacobs, 2B Tyler Urps and SS Dainer Moreira each added two hits in the contest with Urps and Moreira scoring runs. Lincoln pitcher Brad Orosey tossed two scoreless innings of relief to pick-up the victory. Orosey gave up two walks but struck out three batters.
