T-BONES’ TOLER DOMINANT DOWN UNDER

Toler Action

After spending the last two seasons with the Kansas City T-Bones, RHP Sean Toler has been a key cog for the second-place Canberra Cavalry of the Australian Baseball League this off-season.

In 14 appearances for Canberra, Toler is tied for the league lead with seven saves to go along with a 2.57 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 14 innings of work. It is the second season with the Cavalry for the native of DesPeres, Mo.; in 2012-13, Toler finished second in the ABL with 11 saves and helped to lead the team to the league championship.

Other highlights from around the Australian League:

Brian Grening (Kansas City 2011-2012, Gary 2011) and Ethan Cole (Kansas City 2013) have been workhorses in the starting rotation for Canberra; the two lead the team with 48.1 and 47.1 innings pitched, respectively. Grening also leads the Cavalry with 4 wins, while Cole is tied for second with 3.

Brandon Tripp (St. Paul 2011, 2013) continues his torrid play for Perth; he is currently second in the league with a .333 average, 11 doubles and 25 RBI, and is tied for third in the six-team league with five home runs.

Anthony Claggett (St. Paul 2012-2013), a teammate of Tripp’s both in Australia and in the U.S., has been a durable starter for Perth, going 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA in 46 innings of work.

Andrew Aizenstadt (Wichita 2012-2013) has been solid out of the bullpen for Brisbane; the righty is 2-2 with a 2.91 ERA, striking out 19 in 21.2 innings of work.
