Brian Burgamy, the switch-hitting infielder who finished 2013 as a power bat with St. Paul, had an explosive regular season in the Mexican Pacific League, winning the league’s home run title with 15 in 67 games. Burgamy also led the league in on-base percentage (.419) and slugging percentage (.541) and was second in runs batted in (47). His .290 average was seventh best in the league.
Burgamy’s Caneros de los Mochis team trails Mayos de Navojoa two games to none in their playoff series. The 32-year-old drove in more than a run per game (25 in 24 contests), hit eight homers, slugged at a .600 clip and hit .295 for the Saints in August and September.
