Kansas City 12, Sioux City 8-Box Score
The Kansas City T-Bones took a 1-0 lead in the American Association’s South Division Championship Series with a 12-8 win over the Sioux City Explorers on Wednesday.
2B Stewart Ijames led the T-Bones, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored, three RBIS, and one walk. CF Omar Carrizales hit a two run home run for Kansas City and LF Casey Gillaspie also drove in two runners for the T-Bones.
LF Sebastian Zawada led the Explorers going 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored, one home run, and three RBIs. RF James Hazelbaker (2-for-4) also drove in three runners for Sioux City.
RHP Hunter Smith allowed two unearned runs in 2.2 innings of relief to earn the win.
Fargo-Moorhead 3, St. Paul 2-Box Score
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the American Associations North Division Championship Series with a 3-2 win over the St. Paul Saints on Wednesday.
The Saints took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by 1B John Silviano in the top of the first.
The RedHawks tied the game at 1-1 on an RBI single by CF Devan Ahart in the following frame. Ahart advanced to second on an error that occurred during the single. In the next at-bat, Ahart advanced to third on a wild pitch and later scored on an RBI single by DH Chris Jacobs.
Fargo-Moorhead extended the lead to 3-1 on a sac-fly by 1B Correlle Prime in the bottom of the third.
St. Paul cut the lead to 3-2 on a fielder’s choice by Silviano in the top of the fifth.
SP Ryan Williams earned the win after giving up just two runs (one earned) in six innings of work. RHP Brent Jones threw a scoreless seventh and eighth for the RedHawks and RHP Geoff Broussard pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save for Fargo-Moorhead.
Saints’ SP Chris Lee gave up three runs (two earned) over 7.1 innings in the loss for St. Paul.
