Kansas City 7, Cleburne 4 – 10 Innings — Box Score
The Kansas City T-Bones scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to edge the Cleburne Railroaders 7-4.
The T-Bones tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI single from CF Cedric Hunter (pictured), who went 5-for-6 in the game, in the top of the eighth inning. After a scoreless ninth, the T-Bones turned things up in the extra frame. SS Jerome Pena, who was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, drew a one-out walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. 1B Kevin Keyes belted a double on the very next pitch that scored both Hunter and 2B Marcus Lemon. Reliever Grant Sides (1-2) came on to pitch in the bottom of the 10th and sat the Railroaders down in order to close out the game.
For the Railroaders, SS Alex Polston had a team-high two hits.
St. Paul 2, Lincoln 1 — Box Score
Starting pitcher Mark Hamburger (11-3) tossed his fourth complete game of the year to lead the St. Paul Saints to a 2-1 win against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
Hamburger allowed just one run and it came in the bottom of the ninth inning in the form of a solo home run from RF Randolph Oduber. The Saints’ hurler gave up nine hits in the game while allowing just two walks and striking out one. St. Paul backed him up with a run in the sixth inning on an RBI single from 1B Mitch Delfino and then added another run in the top of the ninth as DH Anthony Gallas singled home LF Tim Colwell.
CF Kes Carter and Delfino each finished the game 2-for-5 for the Saints while Oduber, SS Ivan Marin and 2B Cesar Valera had two hits for the Saltdogs.
Fargo-Moorhead 7, Sioux Falls 5 — Box Score
After an eventful first few innings, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks settled in to take care of the Sioux Falls Canaries 7-5.
Both teams scored five runs in the first four innings but the RedHawks pitching staff kept the Canaries off the board the rest of the way. In the sixth, CF Devan Ahart doubled home SS Yhoxian Medina for the go-ahead run and RF K.D. Kang added an insurance run in the seventh with a sac fly that plated 3B Josh Mazzola. For the game, the RedHawks racked up 10 hits including three from Medina and two each from Ahart and C Charlie Valerio, who had his fifth home run of the year.
For the Canaries, CF Dan Motl went 2-for-5 and DH Burt Reynolds went 1-for-5 with two RBIs.
Texas 5, Gary Southshore 1 — Box Score
The Texas AirHogs scored in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed on the way to a 5-1 win against the Gary Southshore RailCats.
2B Alvaro Rondon, who went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks, scored the game’s first run and he scored again in the third when RF Charley Thurber doubled to give the AirHogs a 3-0 lead. CF Trevor Sealey scored on a sac fly from DH Jake Taylor earlier in the inning. LF Casio Grider added two more runs for the AirHogs in the seventh with a double that scored Sealey and 3B Ryne Willard.
3B Randy Santiesteban, who was 2-for-4, scored the RailCats’ lone run on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning.
Winnipeg 9, Sioux City 5 – Game 1/7 Innings — Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes took the first game of their twinbill with the Sioux City Explorers 9-5 thanks to a late-inning offensive explosion.
The Goldeyes were trailing 5-1 heading into the top of the sixth inning but quickly tied the game as RF David Rohm scored on a double from LF Josh Romanski, CF Reggie Abercrombie hit a two-run home run and DH David Bergin scored on a wild pitch. In the seventh, the Goldeyes added four more runs as 1B Shawn Pleffner provided the game winning runs with a grand slam.
The Explorers were held to just three hits in the game but one of those was a three-run home run from 1B Dre Gleason in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Winnipeg 5, Sioux City 2 – Game 2 Suspended/Curfew rule
The Winnipeg Goldeyes were leading the Sioux City Explorers 5-2 after five complete innings of play when the night cap of their doubleheader was suspended due to the curfew rule. The game will resume Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. and it will be played through seven innings with the regularly scheduled nine-inning game to follow.
Wichita 9, Salina 4 – Game 1/7 Innings — Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts took game one of their Tuesday doubleheader with the Salina Stockade 9-4.
Most of the game’s action went down in the second inning as the Stockade took a 4-0 lead in the top of the inning and the Wingnuts responded with six runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. LF Jonathan Moroney, who went 2-for- in the game, singled home two of those four runs in the second. Wichita CF Tyler Sullivan gave his team the lead with a bases-loaded double and then scored when DH Brent Clevlen, who was one of four Wingnuts to have two hits in the game, singled later in the frame.
The Wingnuts held the Stockade scoreless the rest of the way to seal the win. Starting pitcher Tim Brown (2-1) earned the win for working five innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits.
Wichita 5, Salina 0 – Game 2/7 Innings — Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts completed the sweep of their doubleheader with the Salina Stockade with a 5-0 shutout win.
SS Leo Vargas led the way at the plate in the night cap as he went 2-for-3 with a double and our RBI. RF Richard Prigatano also had a pair of hits as he went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. C Martin Medina scored twice as well, going 1-for-2 and drawing a walk. For the Stockade, both LF Jonathan Moroney and SS Logan Trowbridge went 2-for-3.
Starting pitcher Ryan Kussmaul (6-4) picked up the win for throwing four innings, allowing four hits and striking out five batters.
