August 9 Evening Recap

Kansas City 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 – Box

Kansas City CF Cedric Hunter launched a solo home run in the eighth inning to give Kansas City a 4-2 lead and that would prove to be the difference in the game as the T-Bones edged past Fargo-Moorhead, 4-3. Along with Hunter, 1B Kevin Keyes and 2B Marcus Lemon also homered as well. Hunter finished the game going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI while DH Tyler Horan added a double and a run batted in. Kansas City starter Scott Carroll threw seven solid innings in picking up his eighth victory of the year. Carroll gave up an earned run on five hits and fanned six batters.

Texas 7, Salina 3 – Box

Texas jumped out to a 4-0 lead through two innings of play and would never look back en route to a 7-3 win over Salina. The AirHogs received a solid offensive performance from DH Charley Thurber who went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Texas RF Denis Phipps and 2B Alvaro Rondon each added a 1-for-3 night with two runs scored while LF Levi Scott collected a hit and two RBI. Texas starting pitcher T.J. Bozeman tossed 7 2/3 solid innings in earning his fifth win of the season. Bozeman gave up three unearned runs on five hits and struck out eight batters. For the Stockade in the loss, 3B Jordan Caillouet had a double and three runs batted in.

Cleburne 11, Sioux City 8 – Box

The Cleburne Railroaders scored nine runs over the first three innings of action and outlasted the Sioux City Explorers by the score of 11-8. Cleburne pounded out 15 hits in the contest with five players having multi-hit games. Railroaders leadoff hitter Maikol Gonzalezled the way going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Cleburne 3B Mitch Glasser and LF Nick Van Stratten went a combined 4-for-8 at the dish with five runs scored while 1B Geraldo Valentin contributed a pair of hits and four RBI. Railroaders pitcher Cortland Cox tossed two scoreless innings of relief and earned his fourth victory. Cox allowed only a hit and struck out four batters in the six batters faced.

Gary SouthShore 9, St. Paul 4 – Box

Gary SouthShore tallied three runs in the third inning to take a 5-2 advantage and would go on from there to defeat St. Paul by a 9-4 final. The RailCats collected 15 hits as a team with each batter in the lineup picking up at least one. Gary SouthShore DH Frank Martinez, RF Reggie Wilson and LF Cameron Newell each contributed two hits and two runs on the night while SS Randy Santiesteban had three hits in five at-bats and plated a pair of runs. RailCats starting pitcher Alex Gunn gave up three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings pitched to nab his seventh win of the season. Gunn gave up five hits and struck out four batters in the 87-pitch effort. For St. Paul, 3B Nate Hanson and DH/RF Anthony Gallas each blasted home runs.

Lincoln at Wichita (Cancelled/Rain)

The game between Lincoln and Wichita has been cancelled due to rain. Since the two teams do not play again this season, the game will not be made up.
