STRONG NINTH INNING BOOSTS T-BONES TO WIN

Kansas City 2, Sioux City 1 – Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to claim a 2-1 win against the Sioux City Explorers.

The Explorers broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning when 3B Jose Sermo hit solo home run. In the top of the ninth, DH Alay Lago reached on an error to lead off the inning and eventually came around to tie the score. RF Logan Moon (2-for-3), who reached on a single, scored the game-winning run when SS Mason Davis doubled with two outs.

In the bottom of the ninth, reliever Cody Winiarski came on to pitch and sat down the Explorers in order to close out the win and earn the save.

Starting pitcher Tommy Collier (9-3) earned the win for tossing eight innings and allowing the one run on four hits while striking out four batters.

 

Sioux Falls 2, Fargo-Moorhead 1 – Box Score

The Sioux Falls Canaries topped the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 2-1 on Saturday evening at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Sioux Falls took the early lead in the second inning when 3B Mike Hart singled home C Maxx Garrett. RF (2-for-4) doubled that lead in the third inning with a single that plated DH David Bergin. Those runs proved to be enough as the RedHawks’ only run came on a 1B Chris Jacobs’ home run in the top of the sixth. Jacobs went 2-for-4 on the night.

Starting pitcher Dylan Thompson earned the win for the Canaries as he tossed seven innings and gave up the lone run on five hits while striking out seven batters. Reliever Kyle Schepel earned the save, his 10th of the year, after working a perfect ninth.

 

Gary SouthShore 4, St. Paul 2 – Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats gave up a pair of runs in the first inning but bounce back to earn a 4-2 win against the St. Paul Saints.

RF Max Murphy (2-for-4) hit a lead-off single and then CF Kyle Barrett (2-for-4) hit a two-run home run in the second at-bat of the game to plate the only runs of the night for the Saints. The RailCats actually opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when LF Tillman Pugh  (2-for-5) scored after DH Colin Willis singled. The RailCats tied the game in the sixth when 2B Will Savage (2-for-4) singled home CF Reggie Wilson.

Pugh homered in the seventh to take the lead and Savage scored on a pass ball in the ninth for an extra insurance run.

 

Texas 4, Lincoln 1 – Box Score

The Texas AirHogs pulled away late to take a 4-1 win from the Lincoln Saltdogs on Saturday night.

RF Stewart Ijames scored the first run of the game with a solo home in the top of the first inning. 1B T.J. Bennett (2-for-5) tied things up in the bottom of the second with a lead-off home run but that was the final run of the night for the Saltdogs.

In the sixth, CF Dillon Thomas (3-for-3) gave the AirHogs the lead when he scored on a single from C Du Xiaoci and the AirHogs added two more runs in the seventh when DH Correlle Prime (2-for-4) and Thomas hit back-to-back RBI singles.

 

Chicago 4, Winnipeg 1 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs held the Winnipeg Goldeyes to a single run and picked up a 4-1 win on Saturday night.

In the fourth inning, the Dogs took control of the night with a pair of runs on a double from LF Tony Rosselli. The Dogs added another run in the fifth inning when 1B/3B Trey Vavra lifted a sac fly that plated 2B Edwin Arroyo.

Winnipeg’s only run came in the top of the seventh when 3B Josh Mazzola (2-for-3) hit a lead-off home run.

DH Joe Benson scored the final run of the game when SS Stephen Perez (2-for-3) singled in the eighth.

 

Cleburne 9, Wichita 5 – Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders early lead turned into a 9-5 win against the Wichita Wingnuts.

The Railroaders found the scoreboard in the first inning when LF Hunter Clanin (2-for-4) singled home DH Levi Scott and they added four more runs in the second as SS Angel Rosa (2-for-4) singled in RF Cameron Monger (3-for-4) and then Scott blasted a three-run home run.

3B Angelo Gumbs also added three hits for the Railroaders on the night.

For the Wingnuts, 2B/SS Logan Watkins, 1B Abel Nieves and 2B/RF Angel Reyes each had a pair of hits in the game.
