SOLTER GIVES UP 1 IN 14.2 INNINGS TO EARN POINTSTREAK PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MOORHEAD, MN– The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that St. Paul Saints’ P Matt Solter (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 3.

Solter gave up just one run in two starts last week to earn the award. In start No. 1, Solter received a no-decision in a 3-0 win over Texas, allowing just four hits while striking out seven over seven innings. In start No. 2, Solter was on the losing end of a 1-0 game against Cleburne, but the righty from New Bern, North Carolina gave up just the one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out six over 7.2 innings. Solter gave up just one run in 14.2 innings during the week. On the season he has allowed just four earned in 19.2 innings of work, putting him second in the American Association with a 1.83 earned run average.

Solter began his professional career with the Gary SouthShore Railcats in 2015 before having his contract purchased by the San Francisco Giants that same year. During his two years in the Giants’ organization, Solter reached as high as advanced A ball and compiled a record of 11-9 with a 5.09 ERA while striking out 141 and walking 66 in 157.1 innings of work.
