SIOUX CITY SWEEPS WEEKLY AWARDS; FALLWELL EARNS PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS

MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Sioux City Explorers’ RHP Tyler Fallwell has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 16, 2019. The Explorers swept this week’s weekly awards with SS Nate Samson winning the Pointstreak Player of the Week Award as well.

Fallwell (4-0) earned the award after tossing 7.1 innings of scoreless relief and earning two wins in three appearances this past week. The right handed reliever gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out 13 in his 7.1 innings of work. Fallwell’s marquee performance came in a 2-1 12-inning win against the Lincoln Saltdogs on June 10. In the game, Fallwell struck out seven in the game’s final three innings of action. On the season, Falwell is 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA over 21.1 innings pitched across 11 relief appearances.

The righty began his professional career in 2016 after being drafted in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals. Fallwell spent two seasons in the Royals’ organization before spending part of 2018 in the Philadelphia Phillies’ organization. Fallwell finished the 2018 season with the Explorers, posting a 0.64 ERA in 28 innings of relief.
