MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Cleburne Railroaders’ RHP Jesus Sanchez (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 19, 2019.
Sanchez earned the award for a scoreless seven-inning start against the Sioux Falls Canaries that resulted in a 7-2 win on May 16. In the start, the veteran righty gave up just four hits while striking out eight and walking zero.
Sanchez began his professional career in 2008 after signing with the Philadelphia Phillies’ organization out of Venezuela. The 31-year-old spent three season in the Phillies organization before moving on to the Milwaukee Brewers’ organization in 2012 where he put up his best statistical season to date, going 7-3 with a 1.63 ERA in 71.2 combined innings pitched between Double-A and Triple-A. Sanchez spent 2013 at the Triple-A level in the Brewers’ organization before moving on to the Miami Marlins’ Triple-A club in 2014. Sanchez made his independent league debut with the Railroaders in 2018, going 2-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 44 innings pitched.
