Lincoln 4, Wichita 2 (11 Innings) – Box
Scoreless through 10 innings, the runs finally came as the Lincoln Saltdogs scored four runs in the top of the 11th and held off a rally in the bottom of the frame by the Wichita Wingnuts to win by the score of 4-2. Lincoln DH Mitch Canham and CF Jon Gaston combined for seven hits in the contest with a run scored and a RBI. Saltdogs 1B Jeremy Hamilton and RF Brian Joynt each chipped in with two hits apiece with Hamilton scoring a run and driving in one. Both starting pitchers Lincoln’s Kevin McGovern and Wichita’s Tim Brown tossed eight innings but did not factor in the decision. Saltdogs reliever Daniel Child earned the win throwing two scoreless innings.
Amarillo 8, Trois-Rivieres 2 – Box
The Amarillo Thunderheads rolled out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and cruised to an 8-2 win over the Trois-Rivieres Aigles of the Can-Am League. Amarillo 3B Tyler Urps had a tremendous game at the plate going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and three runs batted in. Thunderheads 1B Rene Leveret also added a home run in a 2-for-5 game. Amarillo starter Matt Larkins notched the win as he gave up a walk and four hits while striking out a batter. For Trois-Rivieres in defeat, CF Steve Brown went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Gary SouthShore 7, Fargo-Moorhead 3 – Box
Gary SouthShore scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and added two more insurance runs in the eighth to beat Fargo-Moorhead by a 7-3 final. RailCats RF Drew Martinez and SS Ryan Brockett each had three hits in the game with Brockett driving in three runs. Gary SouthShore leadoff hitter Jon Jones had two hits in four at-bats with a run scored and a RBI while CF Tillman Pugh went 1-for-2 and plated two runs. RailCats starting pitcher Charle Rosario improved his record to 4-1 on the year with the victory. Rosario threw six innings giving up three earned runs on eight hits.
