DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes LHP Chris Salamida (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 10.
This is the second time the veteran lefty has won the award in 2014, having previously taken it for the week ending July 27. This week, Salamida was dominant in his Sunday start against the Wichita Wingnuts at home. In a complete game effort, he stuck out eight Wingnuts and allowed only one run on five hits. Salamida earned the win as the Goldeyes won 5-1.
On the season, his fifth with Winnipeg, the Watervilet, New York resident is 6-3 with a 3.20 ERA. In 106 and 2/3 innings, he has struck out 79 and walked only 20.
