SAINTS RALLY LATE TO TOP REDHAWKS

St. Paul 6, Fargo-Moorhead 4 – Box Score

The St. Paul Saints rallied late to drop the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 6-4 on Wednesday evening at CHS Field.

The RedHawks moved in front in the third as CF Brennan Metzger (2-for-4) hit a lead-off home run and, in the next inning, C Dylan Kelly singled home 3B Leobaldo Pina (2-for-4) and DH Dario Pizzano scored as 2B Trey Hair bounced into a double play. The Saints found the scoreboard in the sixth when SS Nate Samson (2-for-4) doubled home CF Mikey Reynolds (2-for-4) and then scored when DH Chris Chinea reached on a fielder’s choice.

In the eighth, LF Alonzo Harris hit a sac fly that scored 3B Chesny Young to tie things up and, in the next at-bat, 1B John Silviano singled home Chinea. C Mitch Gehlfi rounded out the rally with a single to left that plated 2B Josh Allen (2-for-4) and Silviano before he was thrown out at second.

LF Forrestt Allday homered in the ninth for the RedHawks but the rally ended there.

 

Milwaukee 5, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen used a four-run fifth inning to topple the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-2 on Wednesday night at Franklin Field.

SS Andrew Ely gave the Canaries the early lead when he scored as 1B Alay Lago bounced out in the top of the first inning. 2B Dylan Tice (2-for-4) tied things up with an RBI single in the fourth and the Milkmen took control in the next inning with a three-run homer from LF Adam Walker (his 10th of 2020) and an RBI ground rule double from DH Jose Sermo (2-for-4).

3B Ryan Long drew one back for the Canaries in the to of the seventh with a ground-out to short that allowed 2B Grant Kay (2-for-4) to score but that was the final run of the game.

CF Brett Vertigan, SS Mason Davis and 3B Logan Trowbridge all added a pair of hits for the Milkmen.

 

Chicago 5, Winnipeg 1 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs scored five unanswered runs to beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-1 and run their winning streak up to four games.

The Goldeyes drew first blood with an RBI single from RF Logan Hill (4-for-4) in the bottom of the first inning but that would be their only run of the game. CF Michael Crouse gave the Dogs the lead in the top of the fifth with a two-RBI single and SS Blake Allemand added two more runs in the next inning with a two-run homer.

3B Joey Terdoslavich (3-for-5) capped the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.

Starting pitcher Jake Dalhberg went five innings and allowed one run on eight hits to go along with one strikeout and one walk in a winning effort.
