Kansas City 10, Sioux City 8 – Box
The T-Bones earned their 22nd win of the season on Friday, defeating the Explorers thanks to scoring runs in six different innings. C Leonardo Rojas blasted his fourth home run of the year, hitting a two-run shot in the second to make it 2-0. The T-Bones added three more runs in the third, but the Explorers came scoring back, as they scored four runs in the third inning. With the score 9-4 in the sixth, RF Jayce Ray hit a three-run shot, his fourth homer of the year to make it 9-7. However, the Explorers were unable to further cut the deficit, as the T-Bones went on to win 10-8. RHP Cody Winiarski earned the save, allowing one run in the ninth in the process. RHP Chris Perry earned his first win of the year, allowing seven runs in six innings, but he received ample run support in the victory.
Fargo-Moorhead 6, Lincoln 1 – Box
After losing two consecutive nights, the Redhawks moved back to .500 by beating the Saltdogs on Friday 6-1. CF Devin Ahart got the ball rolling in the first, blasting his second homer of the season for a 1-0 lead. In the second, RF K.D. Kang added another run with a solo shot of his own, his fifth home run of the year. Kang scored again in the fourth when he was brought in on a RBI single from 1B Jesus Posso to make it 5-0. CF Matty Johnson hit a solo shot for the Saltdogs to make it a 5-1 game, but the Redhawks added another run in the fifth, as they went on to win 6-1. RHP Tyler Herron went the distance in the win, allowing a run on six hits and striking out five in the win. The win was his second of the year. Kang was 2-4 with two runs scored and a RBI in the win.
St Paul 10, Gary Southshore 0 – Box
The Saints extended their record to 27-13, winning their second straight game on Friday, as RHP Benji Waite went the distance in the shutout. The win was his second of the season, as he also allowed seven hits and struck out two. The Saints quickly took a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a three-run home run from RF Danny Oh. The home run was his fifth of the year. In the third, Oh knocked in three more runs, as the Saints extended their lead to 8-0. Oh finished the game 5-5 with a run scored and six RBIs. In the fourth, 3B Nate Hanson added a solo shot of his own, his sixth home run of the year, making the score 9-0. The Saints added another run in the seventh, going on to win 10-0 over the Railcats. Hanson was 4-5 with a run scored and two RBIs, as he helped lead his team to victory.
Texas 3, Salina 1 – Box
The Airhogs quickly took the lead in this contest, generating a run in the first on a RBI putout from 1B Levi Scott. The Stockade tied the game in the sixth, on a ground-rule double from DH Kewby Meyer, his 9th RBI of the year. In the seventh, Scott drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly, making the score 2-1. 2B Alvaro Rondon drove in an insurance run in the eighth, as the Airhogs went on to win 3-1. The win was their 12th of the year. RHP Austin Kubitza pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win, his first victory of the year. RHP Luis De La Cruz nailed the door shut in the ninth, picking up his seventh save while striking out two batters.
Winnipeg 14, Sioux Falls 8 – Box
The Goldeyes rode a seven-run first inning to their 20th win of the season, defeating the Canaries on Friday night. The big play of the inning came on a two-run double from DH David Bergin. The Goldeyes hit two home runs in the victory, with CF Reggie Abercrombie hitting a three-run shot in the fourth, and 2B Jordan Ebert hitting a solo shot in the fifth. RF Burt Reynolds hit two home runs in the loss, hitting solo shots in the fourth and sixth innings, finishing the game 4-4 with five RBIs. Abercrombie was 2-5 in the win with two runs scored and four RBIs. RHP Mikey O’Brien proved himself to be a workhorse, going eight innings in the win, allowing five runs on ten hits and striking out six.
Wichita 13, Cleburne 3 – Box
The Wingnuts won their 29th game of the season, extending their league-best record on Friday night, beating the Railroaders 13-3. The teams exchanged runs in the second inning, but the Wingnuts blew the game open in the next two innings, scoring six runs over the span. With a 2-1 lead in the third, 3B Martin Medina knocked in two runs on a triple to make it 4-1. In the fifth, 1B Matt Chavez added a two-run single and was followed by Medina who hit a RBI single to make it 7-1. Chavez also homered on the day, as he finished with six RBIs in the win. RHP Tyler Kane earned the victory, going six innings, allowing one run (none earned) on six hits and striking out four for his sixth win of the season.
