RODRIGUEZ’S SINGLE LIFTS TEXAS TO WALK-OFF VICTORY

Texas 7, Sioux Falls 6 (10 Innings) – Box

Texas 1B Devon Rodriguez singled home PH Nick Akins with the game winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the AirHogs defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 7-6. Sioux Falls had a 6-0 lead after seven innings only to see Texas score two runs in the eighth, four runs in the ninth and the winning run in the 10th.  Rodriguez went 2-for-5 on the day with a run scored while Akins had two hits and two RBI.  AirHogs SS Juan Sanchez chipped in with a huge three-run home run in the ninth inning. Texas pitcher Trey Masek tossed two scoreless innings of relief to nab his first win.

St. Paul 13, Laredo 11 – Box

The St. Paul Saints banged out 16 hits in the contest and outlasted the Laredo Lemurs in a wild affair, 13-11. This game was an offensive shootout as both teams combined to score 24 runs on 27 hits, with 11 of them being for extra bases. St. Paul 3B Nate Hanson went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored while 2B Sam Maus had a pair of doubles, two RBI and a run scored. Saints starter Robert Coe collected his eighth victory and is now 8-2 on the season. Coe threw 5 1/3 innings giving up seven earned runs on eight hits with a strikeout. For Laredo in defeat, 3B Cesar Valera had a 2-for-4 night with two runs scored and two RBI.

Gary SouthShore 9, Lincoln 6 – Box

The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-3 lead and would hold on late to defeat the Lincoln Saltdogs, 9-6. Gary SouthShore had 13 hits in the game and was led by SS Jarred Mederos who went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. RailCats CF Anthony Cheky and LF Cameron Newell each had two hits and two RBI while 2B Frank Martinez plated two runs in a 2-for-5 day. Gary SouthShore pitcher Moises Melendez tossed 3 2/3 innings in notching his third win of the season. Melendez allowed an earned run on two hits and struck out a pair.
