Kansas City 3, Gary SouthShore 2- Box
With three runs in the top of the seventh, the T-Bones pulled out a road win over the RailCats. LF Bryan Sabatella and SS Vladamir Frias had back-to-back singles to lead off the inning and CF Robby Kuzdale was hit by a pitch with one out. 3B TJ Mittlestaedt hit a sacrifice fly to score Sabatella, but the big blow was a two-RBI triple from 2B Danny Richar (pictured). Sabatella was 3-for-4 for the game.
For Gary, 2B Danny Pulfer and SS Ryan Brockett had two hits each. LF Cody Bishop hit a solo home run for the RailCats.
RHP Andy Noga struck out two over six innings to earn the win. The save went to All-Star LHP Kris Regas, who fanned four in two innings.
Grand Prairie 2, Lincoln 0- Box
The AirHogs scored a pair in the ninth to earn a late win over the Saltdogs. SS Jimmy Mojica led off the inning with a hit by pitch and scored the game’s first run on a wild pitch. Back-to-back singles from 2B Alex Nunez and All-Star 3B Abel Nieves resulted in another run. RHP Dakota Watts shut the door with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning.
RHP Kevin McGovern allowed no runs on three hits in an eight-inning start for the Saltdogs, striking out 10 batters. 2B Brandon Pinckney was 2-for-4 in the game for Lincoln.
Ty’Relle Harris earned the win in relief for Grand Prairie after RHP Danny Gutierrez struck out 11 in seven innings in his start.
St. Paul 9, Wichita 7- Box
The St. Paul Saints recorded only eight hits on Saturday, but turned it into nine runs. 2B Jared McDonald hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, and 1B Angelo Songco hit a three-run blast an inning later. C Jake Taylor and LF Willie Cabrera had two hits each for St. Paul. All-Star CF Brent Clevlen was 3-for-5 for Wichita.
RHP Dan Sattler earned the win for St. Paul with one and 1/3 innings of relief.
Sioux City 11, Fargo-Moorhead 2- Box
The Explorers blew open a close game with seven runs in the seventh inning. 2B Andres Perez hit a two-RBI single in the seventh inning, as did CF Tim Colwell. Perez had previously hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, and scored the Explorers’ other run in the third inning. Perez was 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. LF Oscar Mesa, 3B Tommy Mendonca and RF Michael Lang had two hits each.
1B Erik Castro had two hits for the RedHawks.
All-Star RHP Patrick Johnson struck out six in six innings for the win.
Winnipeg 12, Sioux Falls 6- Box
The Goldeyes scored 12 runs on 12 hits in a road win against the Canaries on Saturday. Eight of the nine Winnipeg starters recorded hits. RF Donnie Webb was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI. He hit his 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fifth. American Association batting leader and Goldeyes 1B Casey Hearther hit a three-run home run in the second inning. 2B Jake Blackwood was 2-for-4 with a double.
RF Steven Tinoco, 3B Carlos Mendez, SS Stephen Branca and 2B Sam Lind had two hits each for the Canaries.
LHP Nick Hernandez, the American Association’s Pitcher of the Month for June, struck out six in five and 2/3 innings for the win.
Laredo 8, Amarillo 1 (Completion of suspended game from 8/1)- Box
The Lemurs plated seven runs in the seventh and eighth to pull away from the Amarillo Sox in the completion of a suspended game. CF Nick Van Stratten was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, and 1B John Alonso was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. RF Denis Phipps and LF JP Ramirez had two hits and three RBI each. Phipps hit his ninth home run of the season in the game.
1B Kyle Nichols had two hits for Amarillo.
The win went to All-Star RHP Tyler Pearson, who pitched four hitless, scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
Laredo 9, Amarillo 0 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)- Box
The Lemurs quickly buried the Sox in game two of the twinbill with nine runs in the first four innings. C Carlos Ramirez hit a two-RBI single in the Lemurs’ four-run first, part of a 2-for-2 night in which he had three RBI. 1B John Alonso extended the lead with a two-run home run in the second. Ramirez added another RBI in a two-run third. Alonso scored a run on a wild pitch in the fourth to close the scoring.
RHP Michael Suk threw a seven-inning complete game with only one hit allowed. He walked one and struck out two.
