RICHAR HELPS ENGINEER T-BONES COMEBACK

Kansas City 8, Sioux City 5Box

T-Bones DH Danny Richar (pictured) hit a go-ahead bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the eighth inning as Kansas City came back to beat Sioux City. After two walks and a sacrifice bunt in the inning, RF Bryan Sabatella stepped up and singled home pinch hitter Byron Wiley to tie the game. Following another walk, it was Richar’s time to shine, as he cleared the bases. 1B Nick Schwaner hit an RBI single to score Wiley and cap off the scoring.

Sabatella finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Richar was 2-for-5 with the three RBIs and two runs scored. In addition to his triple, he hit a double to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning. Additionally, SS Vladamir Frias was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Kansas City.

For Sioux City, 1B Rene Tosoni was 3-for-4 with a run scored. 2B Andres Perez was 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the eighth inning. RF Peter Barrows drove in two runs, including a solo home run in the ninth.

LHP Kris Regas earned the win for Kansas City in relief. He struck out a batter in an inning and 1/3.

Gary SouthShore 7, Grand Prairie 3Box

The visiting RailCats scored single runs in seven of the nine innings on Wednesday afternoon en route to a win. In total, Gary had 17 hits on the afternoon. DH Ryan Babineau was 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. He hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning.  3B Derek Smith was 4-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. C Craig Maddox went 2-for-4 with a double, and 1B Jeremy Hamilton was 2-for-5 with a double.

RHP Dustin Crenshaw threw a complete game for the RailCats, allowing the three runs and only walking one, although he did not record a single strikeout.

Amarillo 2, Sioux Falls 1Box

With one out in the top of the ninth inning and the game locked in a 1-1 tie, SS Kyle Bellows was on third base for the Amarillo Sox. He scored on a wild pitch to give the Sox the lead and end the Canaries’ three-game win streak.

Sioux Falls drew first blood when SS Stephen Branca hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring CF Chris Valencia. Amarillo scored their first run of the day on an RBI double in the seventh from CF Jason Martin that scored 1B Kyle Nichols. Martin finished 2-for-3 for Amarillo. 2B Omar Luna and LF Derek Perren also notched two hits apiece for the Sox.

RHP Kellen Moen earned the win in relief with a perfect inning and 2/3.
