MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Cincinnati Reds have purchased the contract of Kansas City T-Bones’ LHP Nick Lee, the American Association announced today. Lee is the 20th American Association player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization in 2018.
Lee was 1-2 with a 3.26 ERA in 2018 for Kansas City. He pitched 19.1 innings in 17 games and allowed seven run on 20 hits with 21 strikeouts. The lefty was pivotal in the T-Bones’ championship run as he worked 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in the Kansas City win over St. Paul to help clinch the American Association title.
Lee began his professional career in 2011 when he was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 18th round of the 2011 MLB June draft out of Weatherford College in Texas. He spent seven seasons in the Nationals organization before signing with Kansas City in July.
