REDHAWKS TAKE 2-1 LEAD IN MILES WOLFF CUP

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Milwaukee 2 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took a 2-1 lead in the Miles Wolff Cup Finals with a 7-2 win against the Milwaukee Milkmen in game three on Tuesday evening at Newman Outdoor Field.

The RedHawks took control of the game in the bottom of the third inning. C Christian Correra hit a lead-off single and scored in the next at-bat when 2B Peter Maris hit a two-run home run. Three batters later, 1B Manuel Boscan (2-for-5) singled home DH Drew Ward and, later in the frame, Boscan scored alongside RF Alec Olund when LF Nick Novak singled. 

The RedHawks stretched the lead to 6-0 when SS Sam Dexter (2-for-4) scored after Maris drew a walk in the fifth. 

Milwaukee found the scoreboard in the top of the eighth as RF Carl Chester (2-for-3) singled to plate 2B Miguel Gomez. The RedHawks responded in the bottom of the frame as Olund singled to score Boscan and push the lead back to six runs.

DH Keon Barnum hit a solo homer for Fargo-Moorhead in the top the of the ninth but the rally ended there as reliever Luke Lind retired the next two batters to end the game.

Lind earned the save on the night as he worked 1,2 innings, striking out one batter and giving up the one run. Starting pitcher Tyler Grauer went 7.1 innings and allowed one run on four hits while striking out six batters in the winning effort. 

Game four will take place tomorrow, September, 21 at 6:30 p.m.
