REDHAWKS SWEEP GOLDEYES IN WEDNESDAY DOUBLEHEADER

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Winnipeg 4 (Game 1/7 Innings) – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took game one of their Wednesday doubleheader with the Winnipeg Goldeyes 7-4 thanks to a five-run fifth.

The RedHawks were trailing 3-2 heading into the fifth but took advantage of four Goldeyes errors to move in front. 1B Correlle Prime (2-for-3) singled to score RF Alex Boxwell to tie the game and in the next at-bat, 3B Leobaldo Pina reached on an error to allow CF Forrestt Allday to score. DH Drew Ward scored on a sac fly from 2B Christian Ibarra and both Prime and Pina both scored on separate errors during C Dylan Kelly’s at-bat.

For the Goldeyes, 1B Kyle Martin went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and DH Jordan George added his sixth home run of the year.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Winnipeg 3 (Game 2/7 Innings) – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks swept their twinbill with the Winnipeg Goldeyes with a 4-3 walk-off win in game two on Wednesday night.

The RedHawks took an early lead in the second inning as SS Sam Dexter doubled home DH Correlle Prime and, in the next at-bat, RF Alex Boxwell singled to score 2B Christian Ibarra. The Goldeyes took the lead in the fourth as CF Darnell Sweeney (2-for-4) hit a solo homer, 1B Kyle Martin hit an RBI single and LF Jordan George drew a bases-loaded walk. In the bottom of the frame, C Nick Kahle (2-for-3) hit a solo homer to tie the score at 3-3.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when CF Forrestt Allday hit a walk-off solo home run.

 

Chicago 6, Milkmen 3 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs started strong and finished strong on the way to a 6-3 win against the Milwaukee Milkmen.

The Dogs opened the game with three runs in the top of the first inning. CF Michael Crouse hit a lead-off homer in the first at-bat of the game to open the scoring. Later in the inning 1B K.C. Hobson reached on a fielder’s choice that allowed 2B Edwin Arroyo (2-for-5) to score and LF Tyler Ladendorf hit a sac fly to plate Hobson. 3B Joey Terdoslavich (2-for-5) added a lead-off homer in the sixth and in the ninth, Arroyo singled to right and both Crouse and SS Blake Allemand (2-for-4) scored on the play after an error.

For the Milkmen, LF Adam Brett Walker II hit a two-run homer in the fourth and 1B David Washington added a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth. Walker II leads the AA with 16 homers this year.

 

St. Paul 5, Sioux Falls 4 – Box Score

The St. Paul Saints edged the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-4 on Wednesday evening at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The Saints struck first in the top of the second inning as 2B Drew Stankiewicz hit a sac fly to score 3B Chesny Young (2-for-4) and SS Nate Samson (2-for-5) scored on a wild pitch. The Canaries also found the scoreboard in the second as LF Mike Hart (2-for-3) hit a solo home run. RF Max Murphy (2-for-3) added a lead-off homer for the Saints in the top of the next inning; DH Chris Chinea pitched in a sac fly in the sixth that scored LF Alonzo Harris and Young doubled home Murphy in the eighth to cap the scoring for the Saints.

The Canaries saw solo home run and an RBI double from 3B Damek Tomscha (4-for-4) as well as a solo shot from RF Clint Coulter in the eighth.

Starting pitcher Mike Devine picked up the win on the mound as he went seven innings and allowed three runs on 10 hits while striking out seven batters and closer Jameson McGrane tallied his league-best 14th save.
