PRENDERGAST, REDHAWKS SHUTOUT SAINTS

July 16 Evening Recap

Fargo-Moorhead 4, St. Paul 0 – Box

Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Zach Prendergast and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the RedHawks defeated St. Paul, 4-0. Prendergast was sensational as he threw the first seven innings in which he allowed only two walks and six hits while striking out nine batters.  The bullpen duo of Trey McNutt and Tyler Thompson finished the game off as each tossed a scoreless inning of relief giving up only a walk and fanning three batters. Prendergast notched the victory and is now 2-0 on the year. Offensively for Fargo-Moorhead, DH Chris Grayson led the way going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. RedHawks RF K.D. Kang had two hits in four at-bats and a RBI while leadoff hitter Devan Ahart drew two walks and plated a run.

Sioux City 7, Texas 6 – Box

A single and an error plated two runs in the fourth inning to give Sioux City a 7-5 lead and that proved to be the difference in the game as the Explorers downed Texas, 7-6. The top of the order led the way for Sioux City as their 1-2-3 hitters of CF Tony Campana, RF Michael Lang and LF Jayce Ray combined for four hits in the contest to go along with four runs scored and four RBI. Campana and Ray also stole a total of five bases. Explorers pitcher Ryan Flores threw four innings out of the bullpen and picked-up his second win of the season. Flores gave up three earned runs on three hits with a walk and five strikeouts. For Texas in the losing effort, 3B Casio Grider had a 1-for-4 game with two runs scored and two RBI.
