MOORHEAD, MN– The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks’ P Sebastian Kessay (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending May 27.
Though Kessay didn’t factor in the decision during his pitcher of the week performance, he was dominant nonetheless. The former Houston Astros draft pick gave up just one unearned run on three hits in his first six innings of Independent ball on May 22, striking out 10 batters in the process.
The Astros drafted Kessay out of Scottsdale Community College with the first pick of the 22nd round in 2013. Kessay spen all of last season with the Buies Creek Astros (Advanced A), going 6-3 with a 3.58 ERA, 55 strikeouts, 43 hits allowed, and 23 walks in 50.1 innings of work over 26 relief appearance .
