REDHAWKS’ MEDINA AWARDED 2019 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

MOORHEAD, MN — The American Association announced Wednesday September 4 that Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks’ SS Yhoxian Medina has been named the American Association’s 2019 Defensive Player of the Year.

Medina played a huge part in the RedHawks 2019 wild card berth, committing just 5 errors and turning 11 double plays in 85 games. The shortstop finished the season batting .250 with 44 runs scored, 16 doubles, 4 home runs and 30 RBIs.

Medina began his professional career in 2012 after being drafted in the 38th round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians. Medina spent parts of six seasons in the Indians’ organization before landing with Fargo-Moorhead in 2017. Medina has played for the RedHawks ever since.
