REDHAWKS DEFEAT BLASTERS IN EXTRAS

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Joplin 4 (10 Innings) – Box

Fargo-Moorhead scored three runs in the 10th inning, including 1B Dustin Geiger’s two-run home run, to collect a 7-4 win over the Joplin Blasters. Geiger had a solid game at the plate as he went 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI. RedHawks SS Mike Gilmartin had four hits in five at-bats along with two runs scored while leadoff hitter Kes Carter hit a three-run blast and drove in four runs in a 2-for-6 game. Fargo-Moorhead pitcher Colton Reavis tossed two shutout innings to notch his second win. Designated hitter Edwin Gomez went 1-for-3 and scored two runs in the loss for Joplin.

St. Paul 8, Lincoln 1 – Box

St. Paul starting pitcher Dan Johnson tossed seven shutout innings in leading the Saints to an 8-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Johnson improved his mark to 2-2 on the season as he threw 119 pitches and allowed two walks and four hits while striking out three batters. Offensively for St. Paul, SS Tony Thomas went 2-for-4 with three runs and a RBI while 1B Angelo Songco collected a pair of hits with a run scored and a RBI. Saints LF Trever Adams also chipped in with a home run, a two-run shot in the fourth inning. For Lincoln in the losing effort, LF Brandon Jacobs launched a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Sioux City 5, Sioux Falls 1 – Box

The Sioux City Explorers scored two runs in the eighth inning and one more in the ninth to break open a tight contest as they downed the Sioux Falls Canaries by a 5-1 final. Sioux City collected 12 hits in the contest with four players having multi-hit games. Explorers CF Tim Colwell went 2-for-4 on the night with three runs scored while LF LeVon Washington picked up two hits and drove in two runs. Sioux City starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman threw 6 2/3 strong innings to nab his third win of the season. Zimmerman gave up an earned run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Gary SouthShore at Texas (Postponed – Field Conditions)

The game between Gary SouthShore and Texas was postponed due to field conditions. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, July 29 beginning at 5:05 PM.
