RAILROADERS OUTLAST KANSAS CITY IN 14

Cleburne 2, Kansas City 1 – 14 Innings — Box Score 

The Cleburne Railroaders outlasted the Kansas City T-Bones 2-1 in 14 innings thanks to an RBI single from 3B Mitch Glasser in the bottom of the 14th.

Cleburne scored in the bottom of the first inning when Glasser, who was 3-for-6, touched home plate after a single by DH Pichi Balet but wouldn’t score again until the walk-off hit. The Railroaders allowed just two hits in the marathon affair but allowed the T-Bones to tie the game in the top of the ninth when 3B Marcus Lemon reached on an error and then scored when RF Kyle Petty bounced into a fielder’s choice. Reliever Cortland Cox (3-2) picked up the win on the night for working the last five innings and giving up just one hit, no walks, and recording 10 strikeouts.

In the 14th, C Blake Grant-Parks belted out a ground-rule double in the lead-off spot, moved to third as SS Alex Polston grounded out and scored to end the game on Glasser’s single.

 

Winnipeg 7, Sioux City 5 – 10 Innings — Box Score 

The Winnipeg Goldeyes rallied to a strong finish as they edged the Sioux City Explorers 7-5 in 10 innings.

Winnipeg was trailing 4-2 heading into the ninth inning but LF Josh Romanski singled to score SS Andrew Sohn and in the next at-bat CF Reggie Abercrombie hit a two-run shot, his 12th of the year, to give the Goldeyes a 5-4 lead. But in the bottom of the frame, 2B Joe Bennie reached on a walk and then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game and force extra innings. In the 10th, DH David Bergin, who homered earlier in the game, drew a walk and scored when 2B Jordan Ebert reached on an error and 3B/C Mason Katz scored on a wild pitch later in the inning to take a two-run lead.

In the bottom of the 10th, reliever Victor Capellan sat the Explorers down in order to seal the win and earn his third save of the season.

 

Gary Southshore 4, Texas 1 — Box Score

The Gary Southshore RailCats took care of business Monday night as they beat the Texas AirHogs 4-1.

The RailCats struck first in the top of the third when CF Chase Harris scored after a single from LF Cameron Newell. In the next at-bat, Newell scored as 3B Randy Santiesteban hit his second home run of the season. RF Colin Willis added to the lead in the fifth when he scored as Santiesteban bounced into a double play. The AirHogs, who had just three hits in the game, scored their only run in the bottom of the seventh when 1B Jake Taylor scored on a single from CF Trevor Sealey.

RailCat reliever Jesse Pratt (2-2) earned the win for tossing 2.2 innings without allowing a hit. Reliever Drasen Johnson threw the final two innings for a six-out save, his eighth of the year.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 8, Sioux Falls 7 — Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks came out of a rain delay in the seventh inning and turned a 7-4 deficit into an 8-7 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

After the rain delay, the RedHawks tied up the game in the bottom of the seventh inning at 7-7 thanks to an RBI single from 1B Trever Adams, an RBI double from C Joe DeLuca and an RBI fielder’s choice from SS Yhoxian Medina. In the eighth, the RedHawks took the lead as LF Kheury De La Cruz hit a lead-off double and came around to score on a wild pitch later in the frame. That proved to be the game-winning run as the RedHawks kept the Canaries off the board the rest of the way.

For the game, both CF Devan Ahart (who hit a leadoff home run in the first) and RF Chris Grayson had three hits for the RedHawks and RF Burt Reynolds and 2B/3B Patrick Fiala had three hits for the Canaries. 1B/3B Chris Jacobs had just one hit but it was a three-run home run in the first inning.

 

Lincoln 13, St. Paul 2 — Box Score 

The Lincoln Saltdogs put up seven quick runs in the first three innings and never looked back as they topped the St. Paul Saints 13-2.

Lincoln saw 12 hits from six different batters on the night including three from 2B Cesar Valera who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored and a triple. Four other Saltdogs each had two-hit games including 3B Tommy Mendonca who also had three RBIs and his fourth home run of the season. 3B/SS Christian Ibarra when 2-for-4 four with three RBI and two runs scored as well. 1B Nathaniel Maggio and RF Randolph Oduber were the other two Saltdogs with a pair of hits in the game and LF Brandon Jacobs had just one hit but it was his 10th home run of the season.

For the Saints, 3B Nate Hanson had two of his team’s four hits. Starting pitcher Derek Gordon (7-2) picked up the win for working six innings and allowing the two earned runs on four hits while striking out seven batters.

 

Salina at Wichita – Postponed/Rain

The game between the Salina Stockade and the Wichita Wingnuts was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as a part of a doubleheader tomorrow (Aug. 1) beginning at 4:00 p.m.
