Gary SouthShore 7, Sioux Falls 6 — Box Score
The Gary SouthShore RailCats walked off on the Sioux Falls Canaries 7-6 as 3B Daniel Pulfer singled home the pinch hitter Cody Bishop in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Pulfer went 3-for-6 in the game and came up with his only RBI with one out in the final inning of the night. The RailCats were leading after eight innings but the Canaries tied up the score in the top of the ninth when DH A.J. Kirby-Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score 2B Sam Lind.
Both teams combined for 26 hits in the game lead by Sioux Falls LF Brandon Jones who went 4-for-5 with two RBI. RF Steven Tinoco added three hits for the Canaries. For the RailCats, both Pulfer and DH Ryan Babineau had three hits and one RBI.
St. Paul 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 — Box Score
The St. Paul Saints and the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks each had one big inning Thursday night and the Saints was one-run better leading them to a 4-3 win.
St. Paul loaded up the bases in the third inning for DH Henry Wrigley who promptly hit a grand slam to put the Saints up 4-0. C Jake Taylor, who scored on Wrigley’s grand slam, had a game-high three hits. The RedHawks struck in the sixth inning as CF Nic Jackson singled in a pair of runs and then DH Petey Paramore scored on a bases-load walk later in the frame.
Starting pitcher Cole Nelson was credited with the win for the Saints as he went 5.1innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits. Reliever Dan Sattler picked up the save.
Grand Prairie 10, Wichita 3 — Box Score
Despite being outhit 14-13 by the Wichita Wingnuts, the Grand Prairie AirHogs picked up a 10-3 road win on Thursday.
The AirHogs scored a pair of runs in the second inning on a double from SS Jimmy Mojica and never trailed in the contest. Both 2B Alex Nunez and RF Frazier Hall had three hits on the night. Hall had three RBI including a two-run homerun in the fifth inning. For the Wingnuts, SS Ryan Khoury had a team-high three hits and a pair of runs scored.
Starter Jason Jarvis earned the win as he allowed just three earned runs.
Kansas City 11, Amarillo 7 — Box Score
Behind a 5-for-6 night at the plate from Kansas City’s LF Bryan Sabatella, the T-Bones topped the Amarillo Sox 11-7.
Sabatella got things started right away as he started off the game with a single in the first at bat. He scored the first run of the game later in the inning. He went on to score two more times in the game. Right behind Sabatella in the batting order was Vladamir Frias who added three hits of his own. Five other T-Bones had a hit including CF Robby Kuzdale who had three RBI.
For the Sox, 1B Kyle Nichols went 4-for-5 with a run scored and CF Jason Martin went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kansas City put up four runs in in the sixth to go ahead 11-2 and Amarillo responded with their own four-run rally capped by a double from Martin. The Sox scored again in the eighth but wouldn’t score again.
Amarillo 9, Kansas City 2 (Completion of Suspended Game from 6/25, 7 innings) — Box Score
The Sox got a 4-for-4 game from 3B Kevin Mahoney and rolled to a 9-2 win in a suspended game. Mahoney had four RBIs and two doubles in the win.
2B Brandon Pinckney, SS Kyle Bellows, 1B Keith Brachold, and CF Jason Martin all had two hits apiece for the Sox. Pinckney and DH Kyle Nichols homered in the contest as well.
LHP Kristhiam Linares earned the win for Amarillo in relief, striking out two in two innings.
Winnipeg 6, Trois-Rivieres 1 — Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes had six one-run innings on their way to a 6-1 win in an interleague contest with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles.
The Goldeyes opened things up in the second inning and then scored in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead. Winnipeg put the game away with runs in the eighth and ninth inning to claim the final 6-1 advantage. 2B Brock Bond led the way as he went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored while drawing a pair of walks. Seven different Goldeyes had hits in the game including CF Reggie Abercrombie and 1B Casey Haerther who each went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
For the Aigles, SS Jose Cuevas went 2-for-4 and RF Sasha LaGarde had the team’s only RBI.
Rockland 6, Sioux City 3 — Box Score
Behind a late inning surge, the Rockland Boulders took control of their interleague contest with the Sioux City Explorers 6-3.
Rockland SS Steve Nyisztor helped get things going early as he had an RBI in the first and set the wheels in motion for another run to score in the third when we reached on a fielder’s choice. He finished the game 2-for-5. The Boulders stretched out their lead in the sixth inning when C Marcus Nidiffer hit a two-run homerun.
The Boulders added a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to push the lead out to the final margin. Rockland 1B Jerod Edmonson was an impressive 4-for-4 with an RBI. For the Explorers, SS Nate Samson and C Todd Jennings each had two hits.
