EXPLORERS TAKE INTERLEAGUE WIN

Sioux City 3, Rockland 1- Box 

The Explorers beat the Boulders in an interleague game. The Explorers got  RBI singles from 1B Andres Perez in the third and C Todd Jennings and LF Rene Tosoni in the seventh. Jennings finished 3-for-4 in the game and his seventh-inning hit gave Sioux City the lead.

For Rockland, LF Joe Maloney was 3-for-4.

RHP Geoff Broussard earned the win in relief. The save went to RHP Chris Bodishbaugh.

Winnipeg 5, Trois-Rivieres 3 (Completion of Suspended Game)- Box

The Goldeyes led 5-2 when this contest was suspended on Tuesday due to rain, and neither team mustered much offense after the resumption. DH Ryan Pineda was 3-for-3 for the Goldeyes with a double and a run scored. SS Tyler Kuhn was 2-for-4 with a double of his own and an RBI. RF Donnie Webb also added an RBI for Winnipeg.

For Trois-Rivieres, RF Carlos Guzman was 3-for-4 and 2B Jose Cuevas was 2-for-4. CF Steve Brown drove in two for the Aigles.

RHP Gabe Aguilar picked up the win with two scoreless relief innings that included a strikeout. RHP Chris Kissock finished the game off with the save.

Trois-Rivieres 2, Winnipeg 1 (7 innings)- Box

CF Steve Brown hit a walk-off single to score RF Sasha LaGarde as the Aigles won 2-1 in the nightcap. Brown was 2-for-4 in the game and LaGarde was 2-for-3, the only Trois-Rivieres players with multiple hits.

1B Michael Hernandez hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for the Aigles’ first run, which knotted the game at 1-1. Winnipeg had scored in  the third on a solo home run from 3B Josh Mazzola.

RHP Nick Sarianides won the game with a scoreless inning of relief that included a strikeout.

Wichita 6, Grand Prairie 4 (Doubleheader Game Two- 7 innings)- Box

2B Taylor Oldham drove in two runs in a win for the Wingnuts over the AirHogs in the second game of a twinbill. Wichita trailed 4-2 going to the bottom of the sixth, but scored four runs in the frame. CF Brent Clevelen collected two hits in the win.

For Grand Prairie, SS Jimmy Mojica and RF Frazier Hall had two hits each.

The winning pitcher was RHP Patrick Mincey, who worked a scoreless 2/3 of an inning. RHP Matt Nevarez picked up the save.

St. Paul 13, Fargo-Moorhead 5- Box

A seven-run eighth inning was just the icing on the cake for St. Paul as the Saints snapped a four-game losing skid. LF Evan Bigley and CF Angelo Songco had three hits each in the win, and Songco drove in five runs while Bigley knocked in three. Four of Songco’s RBIs came on his eighth inning grand slam as St. Paul pulled away for the win.

For Fargo-Moorhead, 1B C.J. Retherford and C Petey Paramore had two hits each.

The winning pitcher was RHP Ben Hughes, who struck out five in four innings in relief for the Saints.

Lincoln 4, Laredo 1- Box

The visiting Lemurs scored in the top of the first inning, but Lincoln roared back and kept them off the board the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win. 1B Kevin Howard had two hits and three RBIs in the win for the Saltdogs. CF Matt Forgatch and RF Brian Joynt each had doubles for Lincoln.

RHP Nick Green struck out four in eight innings for the win. RHP Marshall Schuler worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

Gary SouthShore 9, Sioux Falls 6- Box

The Railcats pounded out 17 hits in a winning effort at home. RF Drew Martinez was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. C Ryan Babineau was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Gary SouthShore scored two runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings and three in the second.

For Sioux Falls, 1B A.J. Kirby-Jones was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

RHP Stephen Bougher struck out four in seven innings for the win.

Amarillo 4, Kansas City 0 (Doubleheader Game One- 7 innings)- Box

The Sox took the opener of a rain-delayed doubleheader with 10 hits and a three-run fourth inning. 2B Brandon Pinckney was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. CF Jason Martin was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.

RHP Derek Blacksher struck out three in seven innings for the win.

Amarillo 6, Kansas City 2 (Doubleheader Game Two- Suspended)

The second game of the doubleheader was suspended due to curfew after five innings with Amarillo leading 6-2.
