RAILCATS EDGE GOLDEYES IN SEASON FINALE

The Gary SouthShore RailCats rallied from a 4-1 deficit to edge the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-4 on the final day of the regular season.

With three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning the Goldeyes took a 4-1 lead but the RailCats erased that lead with a pair of runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. For Gary SouthShore, LF Josh Romanski had a team-high three hits and three runs scored and 1B Craig Maddox added a pair of hits in four at bats. For the Goldeyes, 2B Jake Blackwood went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

On the mound, reliever Ian Kadish picked up the win as he worked the seventh inning and James Parr earned the save as he worked the ninth.

 

Wichita 4, Laredo 1 — Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts jumped out to an early four-run lead and held on to top the Laredo Lemurs 4-1.

Wichita took the lead in the bottom of the first inning as 2B Abel Nieves doubled to score 1B David Espinosa. The Wingnuts added three more runs in the third inning as CF Brent Clevlen hit a two-run home run and RF Carlo Testa scored later in the inning on a single from 3B Chris McClendon. Clevlen finished the night with a team-high two RBI on a 2-for-3 night. Espinosa and 1B/DH Victor Diaz both added a pair of hits.

For the Lemurs, 3B Travis Denker and LF J.P. Ramirez each went 2-for-4 and DH Devin Goodwin had the Lemurs only RBI.

 

Amarillo 9, Grand Prairie 3Box Score

The Amarillo Sox turned 14 hits into nine runs as they toppled the Grand Prairie AirHogs 9-3 in their season finale.

Both RF Derek Perren and LF Joe Weik had three hits in the game for the Sox and scored a combined five runs in the game. 2B Geraldo Valentin and C Jeff Farnham added two hits apiece and DH Kyle Nichols had a team-high three RBI. 1B Andres Rodriguez had two RBI as well. For the AirHogs, DH Brian Myrow had a team-high two hits.

Starting pitcher David Casillas earned the win as he went five innings and allowed three runs – one earned – on four hits and had three strikeouts.
