DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Lincoln Saltdogs RHP Pete Parise (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.

Parise has been enjoying a successful season with the Saltdogs in his second year with the team. The University of Pittsburgh right-hander topped the American Association wins list this week with a pair of victories against Sioux Falls and Gary SouthShore. Over 13 total innings, Parise only allowed two earned runs and surrendered 11 hits.

To secure his first win of the week, Parise reached the seven-inning mark for the ninth time in 2013. The Canaries’ hitters struggled all night against the Saltdogs’ starter. Parise allowed one unearned run in the third inning, then gave up his only earned run of the game on a solo home run the following frame. Lincoln came away with a 9-5 victory and Parise notched his ninth win.

On Sunday, Parise tied Alain Quijano for most wins in the American Association and he did so against Quijano himself. Parise prevailed by pitching six innings and only allowing four RailCats hits. Gary SouthShore struck just once against the right-hander, who improved his record to 10-5.
