GAC GOES FOR SIX RBI IN WIN

Lincoln 8, Kansas City 4

Lincoln DH Ian Gac (pictured) had a monster game as he went for six RBI in the Saltdogs 8-4 win over the Kansas City T-Bones. Gac was 3-for-4 in the game including a three run homerun in the top of the third inning. RF Brian Joynt followed Gac with a homerun of his own in the very next at bat. 2B David Espinosa also had a big game for the Saltdogs as he posted a team-high four hits in five at bats, he also scored three runs.

For the T-Bones, nine batters had at least one hit and LF Joey Gathright went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Starter Mike Burns was tabbed as the winner for the Saltdogs.

 

Winnipeg 6, Sioux City 5

Trailing by a run heading into the ninth inning, the Winnipeg Goldeyes rallied to take down the Sioux City Explorers 6-5. The Goldeyes loaded up the bases by drawing three walks in the top of the ninth and 1B Ryan Scoma put the bat on the ball to get the runners in motion. Though it was a fielder’s choice, 2B Kevin Moesquit scored on the play and 3B Amos Ramon also scored as a result of an error.

Scoma went 2-for-5 in the game and SS Josh Mazzola also added two hits and an RBI. For the Explorers, 1B Luke Murton had a team-high three hits and both C Alberto Espinosa and SS Leugim Barroso each had a pair of RBI.

 

Sioux Falls 1, St. Paul 0 (Final – 11 Innings)

After 10 scoreless innings, LF J.P. Ramirez scored on an error by the catcher in the top of the 11th inning to make the difference as the Sioux Falls Canaries edged the St. Paul Saints 1-0. Both starting pitchers were phenomenal on the mound though neither one earned a decision. The Canaries’ Kyle Ruwe threw nine innings and allowed six hits while St. Paul’s Anthony Claggett matched that nine inning effort and gave up just three hits and struck out six batters.

Reliever Kirk Clark was credited with the win for working the tenth inning for the Canaries. All four of the Sioux Falls hits came from RF Nick Van Stratten (2-for-3) and Ramirez (2-for-4).

 

Rockland 4, Fargo-Moorhead 2

Boulder SS Matt Nandin provided the game-winning RBIs with a single in the top of the ninth inning that broke a 2-2 tie and set up the Rockland Boulders for a 4-2 inter-league win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Nandin brought  LF Stephen Cardullo and 1B Jaren Matthews home with two outs in the top of the ninth.

Matthews was the only Boulder to have more than one hit as he went 2-for-4. For the RedHawks, 1B Keith Brachold had a team high two hits. Former RedHawk Reliever Kevin Fuqua came in to record the save for the Boulders by recording three strikeouts in the bottom on the ninth.

 

Grand Prairie 4, Amarillo 1

After taking a three-run lead in the third inning, the Grand Prairie AirHogs held on to beat the Amarillo Sox 4-1. 1B Andres Rodriguez knocked in the first round with a single that pushed Rian Kiniry across. DH Palmer Karr brought in another run on a sacrifice fly after the AirHogs scored on an error.

3B Brandon Pickney had a team-high two RBI. Grand Prairie’s starter Derek Blacksher put together a strong performance on the mound as he went eight innings and allowed just one run on five hits. Reliever Patrick Mincey came in and picked up the save in the ninth while striking out two batters.
