MOORHEAD, MN – The American Association of Professional Baseball has released the following statement regarding today’s announcement that the St. Paul Saints have accepted the opportunity to become the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

“Today, the American Association says goodbye and good luck to one of our league members, the St. Paul Saints. The Saints are taking the once unthinkable act of becoming the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, but unthinkable acts are nothing new to this organization.
The Saints are charter members of both the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball and the former Northern League and have been both trendsetters and a beacon of excellence across all professional baseball since setting up at Midway Stadium in 1993. The club’s move to the lauded CHS Field in 2015 solidified their top of class status in the professional baseball ranks. This move by the Saints is further proof of the quality of the stadiums, operators, staffs, players, and fans in the American Association, which allowed for the move to Triple-A. It is also further proof that no matter affiliated or independent, the Saints have been the best in all of professional baseball.
The American Association will now set our sights on the 2021 season and finalize the roster of teams moving forward. We anticipate exciting news in the near future regarding locations, schedules, and fan enhancements as well as beginning our new era as a Partner League of Major League Baseball.
We wish the entire St. Paul Saints organization, including the ownership group headed by Marv Goldklang, Mike Veeck and Bill Murray, and the front office staff headed by Derek Sharrer and Tom Whaley, all the best in their new endeavor.”
