MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that St. Paul Saints’ OF Max Murphy has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending June 23, 2019.

Murphy earned the award after posting a ridiculous .514/.525/1.189 line with six home runs, seven doubles and 14 RBIs over seven games this past week. If Murphy hadn’t homered entering the week, his six home runs would’ve put him tied for ninth on the league’s home run leaderboard. He currently has 12 home runs on the season to lead the league. Murphy is also 11th in the league in batting average (.320), tied for second in runs scored (28), tied for first in hits (47), tied for first in extra-base hits (23), third in RBIs (32) and first in slugging (.646). What’s more, he has only committed one error on the season.

The 26-year-old began his professional career in 2014 after being drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the ninth round of the 2014 MLB Draft. Murphy spent four seasons in the Twins’ organization, reaching double-A in 2017 before latching on with St. Paul prior to the 2018 season. In 98 games with the Saints in 2018, Murphy hit a career best .319 while belting six home runs and driving in 68 runners.
