Amarillo 6, Lincoln 0

The Amarillo Sox blanked the Lincoln Saltdogs 6-0 behind a quality start from Ryan Mitchell (pictured). Mitchell tossed seven innings and allowed just two hits and struck out 12 Saltdogs in the process. The Sox scored a run in each of the first three innings to claim the lead capped by a solo homerun from C Chris Grossman. The Sox chased the Saltdogs starter after just 2.1 innings.

CF Jason Martin knocked in a pair of runs in the 6th inning with a triple. Both 1B Kyle Nichols and DH Jorge Delgado went 2-for-4 and Delgado added an RBI.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 5, Kansas City 4

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks homered twice in the bottom of the fourth inning on their way to beat the Kansas City T-Bones 5-4. CF Nic Jackson led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot and DH Tim Alberts had a three-run blast later in the inning to tie the score at 4. The homerun gave Jackson 68 RBI on the year.

The T-Bones had taken a 4-0 in the first with the help of a three-RBI double by C Trevor Coleman. The RedHawks took the lead for good on a RF Jeremiah Piepkorn single that scored 2B C.J. Retherford.  Piepkorn and Retherford both went 2-for-4 in the game.

 

Winnipeg 7, Sioux Falls 2

The Goldeyes were hot from the start as Winnipeg topped the Sioux Falls Canaries. The Goldeyes took the lead in the first inning after RF Tyler Graham scored on a pass ball and then 3B Yurendell de Caster added a second run on a sacrifice fly.

RF Fehlandt Lentini was 2-for-4 with three RBI. DH Ray Sadler, who was 2-for-4, and C Luis Alen, who was 2-for-3, both homered in the ballgame.

For the Canaries, both RF Nick Van Stratten and LF J.P. Ramirez had two hits. Starter Matthew Jackson struck out eight batters in seven innings of work. He earned the win after allowed two runs on six hits.

 

Gary SouthShore 12, St. Paul 6

The Gary SouthShore RailCats pounded out seven runs in the last two innings to take a 12-6 win from the St. Paul Saints. Nine RailCats registered hits in the game including 1B Reid Fronk and CF Drew Martinez who had three hits apiece. Fronk was one of three RailCats to post two RBI in the contest.

RF Mike Massaro also had two RBI on a pair of triples. For the Saints, LF Willie Cabrera and C Jeremy Mayo had a pair of RBI. Reliever Estevan Uriegas was tabbed as the winner for his 1.1 innings of work.

 

Wichita 5, Grand Prairie 3

With a surge in the third and fourth innings the Wichita Wingnuts moved past the Grand Prairie AirHogs to win 5-3. After tying things up in the third, the Winguts took control in the fourth when Brent Clevlen scored on a wild pitch and in the same at bat David Amberson singled in Abel Nieves to put Wichita in front by two runs. That was Amberson’s only hit of the game.

1B C.J. Ziegler had a game-high three hits and also added an RBI. DH John Rodriguez was the only other Wingnut to have more than one hit as he went 2-for-4.

For the AirHogs, Andres Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBI.

 

El Paso 5, Sioux City 2

With a combined 10 hits, the El Paso Diablos outlasted the Sioux City Explorers 5-2. Three Diablos — SS Maikol Gonzalez, LF Oscar Mesa and 2B Rodrigo Aguirre — registered two hits in the win but it was DH  Anthony D’Alfonso that led the way with two RBI.

For the Explorers, both CF Eliezer Mesa and SS Leugim Barroso had two hit game and LF Yusuke Inoguchi added an RBI.

For throwing six innings and scatting seven hits for just two runs, Starter Reyes Dorado picked up the win.  He also registered six strikeouts.
