MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that former Gary SouthShore RailCats’ RHP Daniel Minor (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 29.

Minor (11-2) pitched a complete game shutout in an 8-0 win over the Sioux Falls Canaries on July 25 to earn the award, scattering six hits and striking out eight in the process. The very next day, the righty signed with the Saltillo Saraperos of the Mexican League.

2018 was Minor’s third stint in the American Association. In 2015, the Texan pitched for the now defunct Laredo Lemurs of the AA and in 2017 he  split time between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the RailCats. Minor began his professional career in 2012 after being drafted in the ninth round of the MLB Draft by the Houston Astros, reaching as far as double-A in 2015.
