MILKMEN HOLD SAINTS TO 2 HITS, CLAIM PITCHER’S DUEL

Milwaukee 1, St. Paul 0 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen held the St. Paul Saints to just two hits as they improved to 30-22 on the year with a 1-0 win.

Starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez went eight strong innings and allowed just two hits, no walks and had five strikeouts as he picked up the win. Closer Peyton Grey struck out a pair in the ninth to earn the save. Saints starter Mike Devine took the hard-luck loss as he went 8.1 innings and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out 13 batters.

The game’s only run came in the top of the second innings as C Christian Correa singled to right to plate SS Mason Davis.

The Milkmen now hold a 2.5 game lead in first place over the Sioux Falls Canaries in second.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Sioux Falls 3 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks kept their hot streak going as they picked up their eighth win in a row, dropping the Sioux Falls Canaries 7-3 on Tuesday night.

The RedHawks are now just 2.5 games back of the Canaries for second place and the final playoff spot in the 2020 American Association season. The RedHawks went to work right away on Tuesday as they plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning when 3B Leobaldo Pina (2-for-4) hit a grand slam. RF Alex Boxwell and LF Brennan Metzger both scored on errors in the second to run the lead up to 6-0.

The Canaries found the scoreboard in the fourth when RF Clint Coulter hit a two-run home run and CF Logan Landon added a lead-off homer in the sixth for their final run of the day.

Reliever Ryan Williams closed things down for the RedHawks, working an 11-out save and allowing no runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

 

Winnipeg at Chicago PPD – Rain

The game between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Chicago Dogs was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on Thursday as a part of doubleheader set to begin at 4:05 p.m.
